The Gulick Bucket List

The most common question we are asked, hands down, is “what’s on the Gulick Bucket List?!” Our adventures have spanned 6 continents, critically endangered species, and even hotels with a giraffe wake-up call so what could possibly be left? So much guys, so much. Below is our ever-changing bucket list!

Save a species from extinction

This is probably our #1 Bucket List item. It has been a dream of ours to be responsible for bringing an animal back from the brink of extinction.

See the northern and southern lights

We don’t care where or how but we definitely want to see the Northern & Southern Lights in all their glory.

Dive with great whites uncaged

We have dove with great whites in Cape Town in a cage and it walked a fine line of ethical treatment so to spot one of these beautiful animals freely would be surreal.

Sky dive over Cape Town

Our favorite city and an activity we have yet to do!

Visit outer space and experience weightlessness

This is currently possible (with the right amount of money) but it’s a dream for both of us to see our planet from space.

Get a pilot’s license - Curtis

This item is specific to Curtis. He’s always wanted to get his pilot’s license and fly us somewhere!

Helicopter ride - Done!

Surprisingly enough, we’ve never been in a helicopter! We’ve had a few opportunities but we’re still seeking out the perfect experience.

Update: as of September 2023, Frances checked this off with a helicopter ride to Everest Base Camp!

Visit every country

All 7 continents, all 195 countries. This includes all the ‘Stans, North Korea, Syria, the works. Every single country has something to give and we want to experience each one.

Meet the natives in Vanuatu

Years ago, we came across a tv show called “Meet the Natives” and it followed the leaders from a tribe in Vanuatu as they explored 4 different cities in the US. They were the kindest people we had seen and we would love to meet them, and the members of their village, to let them know that their kindness touched someone by being on the show.

See orangutans in Borneo

Palm Oil is almost solely responsible for the near extinction of Orangutans (through deforestation) and we are working hard to try and get to Borneo before it’s too late to shed light on this overlooked exploitation of palm oil.

Charter a private jet for area of need

We’d love to one day have the means to charter a private jet and fill it with items to take to an area of great need.

Swim with humpback whales in Tonga

Lifelong goal for both of us and hope to check this one off the list soon!

Sail around the entire northern circumference of the earth (north of Russia and Canada)

Not sure if this is possible but it would be such an amazing experience to sail around the northern most part of the world!

Live overseas

Our ultimate bucket list item is one we are actively working towards every day. By making conscious decisions daily about what we really need, we are not only helping eliminate waste but also wasteful spending, allowing us to save up for our big move one day.
